Bose QuietComfort 25 review, excellent noise-cancelling
Full Bose QuietComfort QC25 Review
Bose is well known for the quality of their hi-end headphones. The QuietComfort 25 are one of them : excellent noise cancelling headphones. The QC25 is the successor of the QC15, one of the best noise cancelling headphones.
If you are wondering if Bose did better with the QC25, yes they did ! They corrected the few little drawbacks of the QC15 and improved the sound quality and the noise cancelling feature.
The noise cancelling technology is really astonishing and as you will see in this rewiew, the QC 25 is mcuh more than that ! Scroll down to see the full review or check out our best noise-cancelling headphones article that we constantly update as we review headphones.
Build & Design
The Bose QC25 have a design similar to the QC15, while being more minimalist. The black and dark grey colors are simple and efficient : the QC25 are beautiful. A white version exists but I personnaly prefer this one, more classy.
The whole headphones are made of plastic. Not a cheap plastic you could find on entry price headphones but a premium one. When you hold the QC25, you can feel it. They look and feel robust in every way.
As you can see on the pictures, they are foldable. This is really cool to be able to fold them and put them in their carrying case.
There is a switch on the left headphone to turn ON and OFF the noise-cancelling feature with a led glowing green when it's ON.
Thanks to their headband (made of a mix of steel and premium plastic) designed to be close to your head, the pressure on your ears is soft and thanks to the soft cushions, your ears are gently treated.
The QC25 are extremely lightweight for noise-cancelling headphones : under 200 grams ! It is even lighter than the QC15 and has a great impact on the comfort : they are comfortable, very comfortable. I wore them for more than 6h in a row without any pain or discomfort, even with my glasses, a real exploit for over-ear headphones.
Once again, Bose is showing us that they know how to design properly their headphones : they are robust, extremely comfortable and their minimalyst slyle is perfect.
Bose did an extraordinay job with their noise-cancelling technology and thanks to this, these headphones allow you to fully enjoy your music, even in noisy places. The noise-cancelling technology works so well that sometimes I am using it in my office open-space to meditate or to take a nap, without litening to music and believe me, it works like a charm ! I would not recommand using noise-cancelling headphones for doing sport like cycling in the street but for those who work in an open-space like me, this is definitly a must have.
The lows are great, really great. I love to listen to good old drum&bass and these headphones deliver my favorite songs perfectly with a really good bass feeling.
The mediums are also really good. A lot of instrument are using lots of mids wavelenght as well as most of the voices. There is nothing to say here, the mids are close to perfection.
This is where they might lack a little someting. I feel the sound a bit dull in the highs, not that much and maybe it's just my tastes but the highs sound a bit to flat to me.
The overall sound quality is really good, as expected from bose and at this price range and considering the excellent noise-cancelling feature, there is really nothing to say. Quality is here.
These are wired headphones with the classical mini-jack connector you can expect. The cable is completely removeable, perfect for carrying them or even just changing the cable in case you messed with it.
There is also a microphone and an in-line mini remote that allows you to control the volume and answer calls directly from the cable that work with android and apple phones.
These wired headphones don't need a battery to run but there is one for the noise cancelling feature (one AAA battery) that goes into the left headphone.
You can expect 35h of noise cancelling with just one AAA battery but in case you run out of battery, you can perfectly use them without, of course, you won't have the possibility to turn on the noise cancelling feature in this case.
What’s in the box ?
When it comes to packaging, Bose know what they are doing : there is everything you can expect from a high-end pair of headphones.
You will find, alongside the headphones, a nice rigid carrying case, an airline adapter and the jack to mini-jack cable with its inline remote / microphone. There is also one AAA battery included to let you enjoy the noise-cancelling feature right after unboxing it.
The rigid case is really nice and there is room for a second AAA battery, the airline adapter and the headphones in it. Perfect for travelers who don't want to carry them around their neck all the time.
Bose QuietComfort 25 and 25i verdict
If you are looking for excellent headphones with a noise-cancelling feature, they are the best you can find. Bose active technology is really above the others and will allow you to enjoy your music anywhere you want, with almost no interference, even in the most noisy places. On top of that, they are really comfortable and lightweight.
